Mental Health Walks Basingstoke was created in March 2026, inspired by

conversations with Mental Health Mates before it closed in April 2026.

I wanted to ensure that the sense of connection and support it offered could continue within our local community.

I bring lived experience of mental health challenges, and this has shaped my passion for helping others feel less alone. I understand how important it is to have a space where you can simply be yourself, without pressure or judgement.

I strongly believe that peer support plays a vital role in managing and improving mental well-being. Sometimes, just walking alongside others who understand can make a real difference.

My aim is to build a welcoming, supportive community in Basingstoke—one where everyone feels included, valued, and able to take positive steps towards better mental health, at their own pace..

About us

My Story

If I had to describe my mental health journey, I’d probably say it looks a lot like a game of snakes and ladders.

Some days you’re climbing steadily, feeling like you’ve got things figured out… and then out of nowhere—slide—you hit a snake and find yourself further back than you expected. Other days, you land on a ladder and things just feel that little bit easier. It’s unpredictable, a bit frustrating at times, but also a reminder that progress isn’t always a straight line—and that’s completely okay.

I’ve lived that up-and-down journey myself, and it’s what led me to start Mental Health Walks Basingstoke in March 2026. After seeing the impact of community through conversations with Mental Health Mates before it closed, I knew how important it was to keep something like that going locally.

I’m not here as an expert with all the answers—just someone who gets it, who’s been on the board, hit a few snakes, climbed a few ladders, and wants to walk alongside others doing the same.

Join Our Community

Mental Health Walks Basingstoke exists to create a friendly, down-to-earth space where people can come together, get some fresh air, and feel a little less alone. Built from my own lived experience of mental health, this is about turning something personal into something positive offering simple, supportive walks that help others feel

connected, understood, and welcome.

There’s no pressure, no expectations just a chance to show up, walk, and be part of something.

Our Values

Real understanding
This comes from lived experience, not textbooks. It’s about empathy, honesty, and knowing that everyone’s journey looks different.

Everyone is welcome
Whether you’re having a good day, a bad day, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here just as you are.

Connection over perfection

It’s not about fitness goals or saying the “right” thing. It’s about walking side by side, sharing (or not sharing), and feeling part of a community.

Small steps matter
Getting out for a walk, even when it’s hard, is something to be proud of. We celebrate the little wins.

Kindness first
To ourselves and to each other. Always.

Keep it simple
Fresh air, good company, and a relaxed pace sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
